Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Tamraght?

Tamraght is a relaxed surf village just 15 minutes south of Taghazout and 25 minutes north of Agadir. It’s quieter than its neighbours but still full of charm, surf spots, and local cafés.

How do I get to the hostel from Agadir airport or bus station?
We can arrange an airport or bus station pickup for an extra fee – just let us know in advance. Taxis and buses are also available, though inconsistent. If you wish to arrive on your own, best to follow Google Maps instructions for route details (keep in mind times may change).

How far is the hostel from the beach?
Idriss Tamraght Surfhostel is about a 10-minute flat walk from the beach – we’re one of the closest to the ocean.

What types of rooms do you offer?
We have cosy private double rooms and a shared spacious dorm room for five (two bunks and a single bed).

Is breakfast included?
Yes! A fresh Moroccan breakfast is included every morning, with tea or coffee, local bread, jams, fruit, and more.
Please note: Breakfast is not available during the summer period between 1st July - 15th September.

Do you offer long-term stays or discounts?
We love digital nomads and longer stays. Send us a message and we can offer special pricing for 2+ week stays when booking direct.

Can I book directly or should I use Airbnb/Booking/Hostelworld?
You can book through those platforms, but we always recommend booking directly through our website for the best rates and more flexible check-in.

Do you rent surfboards and wetsuits?
Yes! We have boards and suits available for rent at the hostel or from our partners in the village.

Do you offer surf lessons?
Absolutely – we partner with trusted local instructors, whether it’s your first time or you're levelling up.

What other activities are available?
We organise day trips to Paradise Valley, sandboarding in the dunes, cooking classes, souk trips, skate sessions, and more – check out all our activities here, or just ask when you get here.

Is there a kitchen I can use?
Yes, we have a shared kitchen to cook meals – and a rooftop space to enjoy them with new friends.

Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel and on the rooftop.

Do you do laundry?
Yes, laundry service is available for 50dh per load.

Is the hostel pet-friendly?
Rosa the dog and Kim the cat live here too – they’re part of the family. We don’t allow outside pets, but if you love animals, you’ll fit right in.

Is the hostel suitable for kids?
Unfortunately, no. The layout and setup make it less suitable for children. It’s a youth hostel for adults.

Whats the average age?
Most of our guests are between 25 and 35. While everyone’s welcome, this is a simple, laid-back surf hostel – nothing fancy, just clean rooms, good vibes, and great hospitality. We attract easygoing, open-minded travellers. If you’re unsure about sharing a room, we recommend booking a private one.

What’s the atmosphere like?

Idriss Surfhostel is cosy, chill, and social. We welcome solo travellers, couples, and small groups – it’s easy to meet new friends here.

Are there social events?
We often host family dinners, rooftop hangs, or optional group outings.

Is it quiet at night?
The building has a traditional village layout, so rooms face inward rather than outside. We keep things quiet after 11pm and ask everyone to respect quiet hours. That said, if you're a light sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs – just in case.

Is Tamraght safe for solo travellers?
Definitely – it’s a friendly, laid-back village where many solo travellers (especially women) feel totally comfortable. As always, basic travel awareness is recommended.

What should I wear in Morocco?
Tamraght and Taghazout are both used to surfers and travellers, so it’s pretty relaxed. You’re fine in beachwear at the hostel, around the area and surf spots, but its recommended cover up when walking through local villages or the city. A light scarf or t-shirt is perfect.

Can I buy snacks, water, or essentials nearby?
Yes – there's a supermarket, fruit stalls, pharmacy, cafés, and local shops just a few minutes from the hostel.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in from 1:00 PM / Check-out: 12:00 PM
We’re flexible when possible – just let us know your arrival time!

Do you accept card payments?
At this time we’re only able to accept cash in Moroccan Dirhams. There is an Exchange Office and ATMs nearby.

What's your cancellation policy?
Non-refundable deposit, free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival when you book directly with us. If you booked through a third-party site, their policy applies. For any last-minute changes, just get in touch – we’re pretty understanding.

Are there ATMs nearby?
Yes! Most accept international cards (Visa/Mastercard), though we always recommend taking out a bit more at once – some machines have daily limits or occasional outages.

• Pro tip: Let your bank know you're traveling to Morocco to avoid card issues, and bring a small backup stash of Euros or USD to exchange just in case. Since the Moroccan Dirham is a closed currency, it is much cheaper to exchange once you’re here.

Are you open all-year-round?
We are open all-year-round, however, during the summer months (from 1st July - 15th September) each floor turns into a private apartment with shared entry and rooftop. We also don’t offer any meals.

I’ve still got some questions, can you help?
Absolutely! Use the contact form below or email idrisshostel@gmail.com

You can also message on WhatsApp +212 639-046411 or Instagram.
